Packaging Line Installation Checklist: Power, Air, Space, Layout and Product Preparation
ZONESUN Packaging Knowledge Center
Installation begins before the equipment reaches the factory. Confirming utilities, access, layout, materials and responsibilities early reduces delays and lets commissioning focus on stable production instead of missing infrastructure.

1. Confirm electrical power
Record voltage, phase, frequency, available capacity, plug or hard-wiring requirements and local electrical standards. Compare these details with the approved machine specification and nameplates. Plan isolation switches, grounding, cable routing and cabinet clearance.
Electrical work should be completed and checked by qualified personnel before connection. Do not assume that factory voltage is identical across every workshop area.
2. Confirm compressed air
List required pressure, consumption, connection size and air-quality expectations. Size the compressor and distribution line for simultaneous demand, not only one machine. Include dryers, filters, drains and a safe isolation point where required.
Pressure at the machine during production matters more than pressure at the compressor. Long or undersized lines can cause drops.
3. Verify space, floor and access
Use a scaled layout showing machine footprints, conveyor lengths, guarding, doors, columns, drains and operator aisles. Check floor loading, levelness and anchoring requirements. Measure every delivery doorway, corridor, elevator and turning point.
Leave clearance for opening electrical cabinets, removing pumps, changing label rolls and cleaning product-contact parts.
4. Prepare production materials
Have representative product, containers, caps, labels, cartons and coding consumables ready in sufficient quantities. Materials should match approved samples. Variation in bottle molding, cap dimensions or label release can slow commissioning.
For final line planning, review automatic production lines and relevant end-of-line packaging equipment.
5. Define installation and acceptance responsibilities
Clarify who unloads, positions, connects utilities, provides tools, translates, trains operators and signs acceptance. Agree on the products and formats for testing, the target output, tolerance, test duration and reject criteria.
Keep approved drawings, manuals, electrical diagrams, spare-parts lists and test records available at the machine.
6. Prepare operators and maintenance staff
Assign operators before commissioning so training uses the real team. Cover safe startup and shutdown, recipe selection, changeover, cleaning, lubrication, fault recovery and escalation. Maintenance staff should learn sensor alignment, wear points and recommended inspection intervals.
Record baseline settings after acceptance. Photos, labeled adjustment scales and controlled recipes make future changeovers more repeatable.
