Start with the tube material

The tube material determines the sealing process. Plastic and laminated tubes are commonly sealed by heat or ultrasonic energy, while aluminum tubes normally require folding and crimping rather than heat sealing. A machine designed for one closure method should not be assumed to handle another without the correct station and tooling.

Match the filler to the product

Lotions, gels, creams and pastes differ in viscosity, flow behavior and sensitivity to air. The filler must cover the requested volume and handle the product consistently. Products with particles, strong corrosiveness or special temperature requirements should be identified early because they can change the pump, hopper and product-contact configuration.

Understand the process stations

An automatic system can include tube loading, orientation, filling, sealing, coding, trimming and discharge. A semi-automatic solution may divide these tasks between the operator and individual stations. Automation should be selected according to output, labor availability, tube consistency and changeover frequency rather than machine size alone.

Check appearance and coding requirements

The sealed end may require a date code, batch code or trimmed profile. Confirm whether the code is embossed in the sealed area or printed separately. Tube orientation is also important when front artwork must align with the sealed end. Registration marks and artwork position should be included in the sample review.

Samples needed for testing

Provide empty tubes, caps and sufficient product for a realistic trial. Include tube diameter, tube length, fill volume, product properties, output target and electrical requirements. If multiple tube sizes will run on one machine, list every size and the expected changeover frequency.

Choose a system that can be validated

A reliable proposal connects the tube material, product and finished-pack appearance to the correct process. ZONESUN can review samples and recommend a filling and sealing configuration for the required level of automation. Send the final packaging components whenever possible.

Quick decision guide

Decision area What to confirm Why it matters
Tube material Plastic, laminate or aluminum Determines heat, ultrasonic or folding process
Product Viscosity, flow behavior and filling temperature Affects filler, nozzle and hopper requirements
Tube format Diameter, length and orientation mark Defines holders, positioning and change parts
Finished seal Seal shape, trim and batch code Sets downstream station and appearance requirements
Buyer’s tip: Send filled-product and empty-tube samples whenever possible. Tube material and formula behavior must be evaluated together.
