There is no universal filling method

The best filler depends on product behavior, target accuracy, container opening, cleaning expectations and output. A machine should be selected from the process requirements rather than from one keyword such as liquid or paste.

Piston filling

Piston fillers are commonly considered for viscous liquids, creams, sauces and pastes. The cylinder volume and valve path must suit the fill range and any particles in the product. Hopper feeding, heating or mixing may be relevant for products whose consistency changes during production.

Peristaltic pump filling

Peristaltic systems move product through compressible tubing, so the product mainly contacts the tube. They can be useful for small-volume and clean-change applications. Tube material, tube life, chemical compatibility and the required flow range should be checked with the actual liquid.

Gravity filling

Gravity fillers use product head pressure and are generally suited to free-flowing liquids. Tank level and nozzle control influence consistency. They are not automatically the best choice for every thin liquid, especially when the product foams, requires a closed path or varies significantly in flow.

Overflow filling

Overflow filling is often selected when a consistent visible fill level is more important than identical volume in containers with small internal-volume variation. Product returns from the overflow nozzle to the supply system. Bottle neck size, foam behavior and recirculation suitability must be reviewed.

How to choose

Provide the product, viscosity or flow description, fill range, bottle opening, desired output, cleaning method and product-contact requirements. Samples and videos are valuable when behavior is difficult to describe. ZONESUN can then compare technologies against the real process instead of recommending from product name alone.

Quick decision guide

Decision area What to confirm Why it matters
Piston Viscous liquids, creams, sauces and pastes Positive displacement for defined volumes
Peristaltic Small volumes and controlled fluid path Product contacts the tubing in the pump path
Gravity Free-flowing liquids Uses product head and timed or controlled flow
Overflow Free-flowing products in rigid containers Targets a consistent visible fill level
Buyer’s tip: Choose from product behavior, target result and cleaning requirements—not from the word “liquid” alone.
