How to choose a wax filling machine

How to choose a wax filling machine

Wax filling requires control of both dosing and temperature. A machine that performs well with a free-flowing liquid may not handle candle wax reliably once the material begins cooling in the hopper, hose or nozzle.

Start with the wax and finished product

  • Identify the wax type or blend and its normal filling temperature.
  • Confirm whether fragrance, color, additives or suspended materials are included.
  • List the minimum and maximum fill weights or volumes.
  • Provide container material, opening diameter and heat tolerance.
  • Describe the required cooling and downstream handling process.

Key parts of a wax filling system

Heated product supply

The hopper and product path should keep the wax within the process temperature specified for the material. Heating requirements must be based on the actual wax rather than a generic temperature setting.

Dosing method

Piston, pump or weight-based dosing may be considered depending on the fill range, product behavior and required production arrangement. A material test is important because wax viscosity changes quickly as temperature changes.

Nozzle and shut-off design

The nozzle should support clean cut-off and suitable access to the container. Nozzle size must match the product flow and container opening; an oversized or poorly positioned nozzle can increase splashing or drips.

Manual, semi-automatic or automatic?

Small batches
A compact or semi-automatic filler can suit frequent scent or color changes.
Stable production
An automatic system can connect container feeding, filling and cooling when formats are consistent.
Multiple products
Prioritize cleaning access and practical changeover.
Complete lines
Balance filling output with cooling time and downstream packing.

Supplier test checklist

  1. Test the real wax at its production temperature.
  2. Run both minimum and maximum fill sizes.
  3. Inspect fill consistency after cooling.
  4. Check dripping, stringing and nozzle blockage.
  5. Confirm cleaning and product recovery procedures.
