Vial Filling Stoppering and Crimping How to Configure a Small Vial Packaging Line
ZONESUN Packaging Knowledge Center
How to connect vial filling, stoppering, crimping and labeling while matching the actual vial and closure components.

Define the complete vial package
A vial project includes more than the glass container. The stopper, aluminum cap or flip-off cap and label all affect equipment selection. Confirming the complete component set allows the filling, stoppering, crimping and labeling stations to be evaluated as one process.
Select the filling method
The product determines the appropriate filling approach. Low-viscosity liquids and small volumes often require precise, clean dispensing. The requested range, number of heads and output target should be stated clearly. This guide concerns packaging equipment selection and does not replace validation requirements for regulated or sterile production.
Stopper placement and cap feeding
Manual placement can be practical for small batches, while automatic lines may require stopper and cap feeding systems. Component consistency affects feeding reliability. Soft, static-prone or dimensionally inconsistent parts may need sample testing before an automatic feeding method is confirmed.
Crimping quality
The crimping head must match the cap and vial neck. Too little forming can leave a loose closure; excessive forming may damage the cap or package. The final setup should be tested with the actual vial, stopper and cap together. A change in any one component can require tooling or adjustment changes.
Add labeling and inspection
After closure, vials can move to a labeling station designed for small round containers. Stable spacing and guides are important because short, lightweight vials can tip during transfer. Coding or inspection can be added according to the production requirement and available line space.
Project information checklist
Send vial, stopper and cap samples, fill volume, product information, label dimensions, output target, voltage and desired automation level. A layout drawing is helpful when the line must fit an existing room or connect to upstream equipment. ZONESUN can use this information to prepare a compatible small-line proposal.
Quick decision guide
| Decision area | What to confirm | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Container | Vial dimensions, opening and material | Defines handling, filling position and guides |
| Closure | Stopper and aluminum or flip-off cap | Determines feeding, placement and crimping tooling |
| Product | Fill volume and liquid characteristics | Guides dosing method and contact-path review |
| Downstream | Label position and inspection needs | Ensures the line is planned as one process |
